Mark your calendars for these fun, upcoming events!

Hey SQ Fam!

It's been a minute! We have some really exciting things to share!

First & Foremost: We are opening The Market at Hamilton! This is a very exciting venture for us. We are NOT closing SQ, but rather adding a new business (because we're crazy like that). Located in the former Emma's Tea Spot at 5500 Harford Road, this is conveniently just across the street from us. The Market at Hamilton will be a speciality market with a delicatessen, featuring speciality sandwiches, cheeses, our pate, olives, fresh baked breads & desserts from Bluebird Bakery, cured meats, tinned fish, crackers, oils, vinegars, jams, ice cream scoops, and more! We plan on being open Tuesday - Saturday, 11:00 am to 7:00 pm, and Sunday, 11:00 am to 5:00 pm. And yes, we will have seating. We want this to be a community space, where you feel comfortable grabbing a seat, meeting friends, bringing your laptop and working, or just generally hanging out. We see this as a crucial investment in the neighborhood, as sadly, our little area of Harford Road has seen far too many losses and vacant storefronts, and we want to see some life and vibrancy on the streets!

But to make this happen, we also need our friends, neighborbors, guests, and YOU to help with this investment. As you know, we are literally a mom & pop place, we live in the neighborhood, and we aren't sitting on a pile of money. We are humbly asking for donations to bring this to fruition. No donation is too small, and we truly appreciate it from the bottom of our hearts!

Now, for some fun events:

BOOZE & BBQ TASTING EVENT

We are hosting Booze & BBQ on Thursday, May 28 at Louthan Distillery further down Harford Road, in the Lauraville neighborhood. This event will feature tastings from area whiskey distilleries, craft beers, and wines. We will be offering a BBQ dinner for an additional purchase. Early bird tickets are ONLY $15 until May 14, and gets you unlimited tastings of all samples! To buy tickets, please go here, Booze & BBQ

Maryland’s Best Announces First Ever Recipient for “Chef Partner of the Year”

Maryland’s Best, a consumer-facing program at the Maryland Department of Agriculture, is excited to announce the first ever winner of the Maryland’s Best Chef Partner of the Year award. Jason Daniloski of Silver Queen Cafe in Baltimore has been named recipient of this honor, which recognizes an individual chef’s dedication to using local Maryland products, from seafood to produce to dairy and beyond. The award was presented at the annual Restaurant Association of Maryland Gala on March 2 in Ocean City, Maryland.

We have some exciting news to share! We enlisted the help of our very talented friend Mike, to build a bar! And what an amazing job he did. So we're happy to annouce that we now have 9 seats at our brand new bar inside!

We really wanted to create more of a casual vibe, one where you can just walk in, without needing a reservation, and have a seat. One where you won't feel odd or out of place at a table, when you just want a glass of wine, or a cocktail. One where you can gather with your friends and not have to commit to the full service dinner experience. Of course, you can still order off the dinner menu at the bar. Seating is first come, first served.

And for us, we get the benefit of having some fun with our new bar bites menu. Smaller plates, smaller price points. Things like our oh-so-addictive shishito pepper tempura, or our miso honey butter wings. And like our dinner menu, the bar bites will reflect the best of what the season offers. But these bites will only be available at the bar, along with special cocktail discounts. And this week, it's happy hour at the bar all night long!

Speaking of seasons, summer is rolling along, and we have some new dishes for you. Now that it's eggplant season, we have a wonderul crispy eggplant parmesan. This isn't the soggy, casserole of that heavy eggplant gut bomb. It's our lighter take, with crispy panko-crusted eggplant slices on top of a bed of summer garden tomato sauce, topped with fresh mozz and basil, and served with a slice of toasted garlic bread. We think you'll like it as much as we do.

We also have a new pizza, with hot coppa, banana peppers, and marinated red onions AND we have a fried catfish po'boy with slaw and remoulade. Of course, we have fried green tomatoes.

If you can't make it in for dinner, remember we deliver through our ordering site, ordersilverqueencafe.com, or you can pick it up. If you're picking up, we also sell beer & wine to go, through the site. You must be 21 or older to order beer and wine, and you will be asked for identification.

Hope to see you this week!
